There are some folks we would very much like to thank for the help and support they have offered to the Moscow Metro Challenge. They are:
Vasiliy Velyakin
Vasiliy, a designer whom I work with, kindly and enthusiastically offered to help me with this website, and generally make it look pretty. I only asked him for advice on free website builders, but being the generous fellow he is, he offered to build the whole thing for me. I work with Vasiliy, and I can attest to the fact he’s as talented a designer as he is kind and helpful. You can see more of his work here.
Nathan Stowell
Many of the sumptuous photographs of the Moscow Metro you see on this website were shot and kindly donated by my good friend, Nathan Stowell. Despite having a full-time career, Nathan is a talented enough photographer to have secured several private commissions -- and I am sure that having seen the quality of the photographs he takes, you can understand why. You can view more of Nathan’s work at his online portfolio here.
David Grant
David is a close friend, and is probably the most punctual, mentally organized and disciplined person I know. His disdain for tardiness and disorder knows no bounds. It therefore made sense that I should ask him to be the master stopwatch holder for our Moscow Metro Challenge. You might imagine that anybody would jump at the opportunity to be associated with such a heroic and glorious World Record attempt, but given he’ll have to be at the start point, on the very edge of the city, in the early hours of a weekend morning in the middle of a Russian winter, and then at the finish point in the city centre some twelve hours later, that’s quite an act of kindness (and understanding of his friend’s idiocy). Thanks, David.
Everybody at Bar BQ Café
Most of my friends know that I love BQ. I've spent more time at their various bars than somebody who considers himself non-alcoholic probably should. But then the service is always great (not as commonplace in Moscow as it ought to be) and the atmosphere fantastic. BQ also does great work for charity through its Tigrus Project. The help and support everybody at BQ has given the Moscow Metro Challenge has been brilliant. Thanks to everybody there, but especially to Henrik Winter, who kindly agreed to get involved, and the excellent Anastasia Govrikova, his head of PR.
Marina Evseeva and Larissa Shishkina
Marina and Larissa work in the PR department of the same company as me. They've been enthusiastic supporters of the project, and have even offered their experience, expertise and contact list to BQ's Anastasia. They are both wonderful colleagues and fantastic at their jobs, and given how hard they work, I very much appreciate their efforts to help the Moscow Metro Challenge pro bono. Thank you, ladies.
